Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., asked Attorney General William Barr during a committee hearing whether a candidate should immediately report to the FBI if a foreign adversary offers dirt on a competitor, something the Trump administration failed to do in 2016. Barr said they should. Coons said the Trump campaign did not report when Russians offered them dirt on Hillary Clinton.
