These are not your typical 30-second, rival-bashing TV commercials. Many candidates (you'll notice one in particular) are choosing to go a more comical route with their 2016 ads.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has seemingly taken the lead on humorous ads. This spot featuring a Hillary Clinton lookalike is one of many recent non-traditional ads posted on his Youtube channel.
Taking advantage of the attention Marco Rubio's boots received on social media, pro-Jeb Bush group Right To Rise USA released this ad.
More ridiculous than funny, this ad still has a lighthearted feel to it and breaks away from the typical political TV spot.
Whether intentionally funny or not, some viewers commented that this ad felt more like parody than a traditional TV spot.
The Ted Cruz campaign had some fun in this infomercial-style Christmas ad that used parodies of holiday classics to promote Cruz's stance on the issues and mock his rivals.
